1-How Big Was The Land
The Louisiana Purchase was the most important event of President Thomas Jefferson's first administration.In May 1803, the United States bought 827,987 square miles from France. This land (the Louisiana Territory) stretched from the Mississippi River, west to the Rocky Mountains. President Jefferson had bought this land from the French Dictator Napoleon Bonaparte. The Louisiana Purchase doubled the size of the United States.
